Type faces

I researched different types of type faces and fonts and found different styles of those fonts. The fonts that I was researching on were; Roman (Serif), San Serif, Script, Monospeed, Blackletter and Mimicry. I then (on illustrator) wrote out my logo which was HS2 but in the styles of font that was were seen as different typefaces. I didn't find the exact typeface font however, I found fonts that were similar to the typeface fonts and most accurate to them. I have wrote my logo out in those styles on illustrator in a table (which is shown below).

From analysing my written logo in the styles of the typeface fonts, I think that San serif, Script, Monospeed and  Black letter are very successful in communication my brand/logo, this is because my logo is quite bubbly and round from the edges, it doesn't have many sharp edges and from looking at the typefaces, San serif, Script, Monospeed and Black letter are also all round and don't have many sharp edges, for these reasons, they link to my logo. They are also quite bold but the main reason they link to my logo and communicate it successfully due to the typeface font being quite round and gentle just like my logo.

 

 

Roman Serif doesn't communicate my logo well as I said before, my logo is quite round and bubbly where as the Roman Serif typeface is quite straight and has sharp lines for its letters. They are nothing like my logo and in fact are the completely opposite.

 

Mimicry links to my logo but also doesn't. Mimicry typeface font uses numbers within their font (as you can see the number 10 above) and so does my logo as its hs2. So that's shows that it can communicate my logo as there is some link there, however the other shapes involved would not communicate and link to my logo well as it doesn't contain any forms of shapes apart from the little comma shaped vector after the 2. Out of all the typefaces, San serif, Script, Monospeed and Black letter would all communicate my logo well. Roman Serif wouldn't and Mimicry would partially.
