In this lesson, I started to create business cards with my name and contact details on it, in order to promote my self as a graphic designer. I firstly researched on Pinterest, different types of business cards I order to get inspiration and some ideas on how I would create my own. Once I looked at them, I started to create my business on Adobe Illustrator.
On illustrator, I firstly loaded up a business card template and chose to create a landscape business card. I started by changing the colour of the background which I chose blue and then added my logo on the card. I chose to add my blue with a yellow outline HS2 logo, which fitted well on my card. I then added information like my contact number, my email and the location of where I am based. As my logo was blue with a yellow outline, I chose to make the writing yellow in order for it to match the logo and look professional. I also added factors like lines in between the information I stated for example a line to separate my contact number from my email address and a line to separate my email address from my location. Once this was done, I wrote my name on my card and what my profession is, which a Graphic Designer and completed my first business card.
For my second business card, I chose it to be vertical as I wanted this card to be a bit different. I again, firstly loaded up a business card template. I started by changing the colour of the background which I chose a very dark grey, almost as an charcoal grey and then added my logo on the card. I chose to add my Arc Black and Green HSS logo which looked great on my card. I then added information like my contact number my email and the location of where I am based. As my logo had a element of green in it, I decided to make the writing on my business card green as it stood out on my card and look great, black would have been a good option too as it looked eye catchy but was less readable than the green writing. I also added factors like lines in between the information I stated for example a line to separate my contact number from my email address and a line to separate my email address from my location. Once this was done, I wrote my name on my card and what my profession is, which a Graphic Designer and completed my first business card.
What Went Well - I successfully created business cards for my logos which looked professional and which were also very effective. the way the card was designed and made, really represented what I could do and the type of skills I have which was interesting. Even though my cards were really simple, they still looked very effective and eye catchy.
Even Better If - If I had of used maybe a more complex layout to make my business card look even more attractive or even and more skilled tool on my work to give and different look and feel.
Business Card 1 - HS2
Business Card 2 - HSS
